A Weekend in Southampton

There are those people who “summer” in the Hamptons (these people also use Summer as a verb), and then there’s me. As a Carolina girl, I’m still learning what there is to do in the state of New York outside of Manhattan and Brooklyn, and so I’ve been making a point to discover all of the quaint weekend getaways within driving distance of NYC. First stop was the Catskills, and though this trip never made it to the blog, I had quite the cute stay at Urban Cowboy Lodge. Next on my list, was Southhampton.

My fiance and I arrived on a rainy Summer Friday just in time to relax before dinner. No regrets for choosing Rumba for fresh food and tropical cocktails. The island-inspired cuisine isn’t what you’ll find at your authentic Caribbean restaurant in Brooklyn, but we definitely enjoyed the vibes and the food was amazing.

Saturday, we set out to thrift shop and quickly discovered that Southampton is a prime destination for designer consignment. From old Chanel chains to my new-to-me Hermes Birkin Bag, there’s no shortage of quality items to reclaim as your own. We also fell in love with every single piece in Home Nature and will hopefully choose a few items to design our future home with.

Side note, obsessed with my Marigold Super Natural Collection dress!

A stop at a local ice cream shop really ushered in the summer vibes and strolling around without regard for what time it was proved to be everything I didn’t know I needed. We then discovered a local farmers market where I acquired an artisan watering can, pineapple jam, Brazilian cheesy bread, turmeric golden milk powder, and garlic hot sauce.

Our final destination for the day was a late dinner reservation at Southampton Social Club. We were looking for some late-night vibes and this was a perfect choice. Our reservation was at 8 pm, so we left just before the bottle service began, but this is your place to go for alfresco dining + a house DJ.

Sunday: The weekend was quickly slipping away so even though checkout was at 11:00, at 10:45 I was joyfully still taking a dip in the pool at the adorable Southampton Inn where we were staying. Before we left, we stopped by an art studio where two independent artists, Brian Josselyn and Hubert displayed their original work. Brian Josselyn paints “lush realism” textured landscapes and cityscapes, while Hubert’s colorful work reflects popular culture.

This weekend's getaway was just what I needed to take a break from my busy schedule and just be in the moment. Hopefully, someday I’ll be back to Southhampton to “summer” in my beach home with friends. Until then! Where to next?
